Bringing Mothers Together

Welcome to the Mothers Network

Mothers Network, also known as MN, is an organization that is dedicated to helping mothers within the Melton East and Brimbank communities.

Whether you’re a stay-at-home mom, on maternity leave or working part-time, MN assists mothers by providing a network of support and friendship through weekly meetings that include postnatal depression, guest speakers, resources and an awareness of the different community facilities available.

MN is a not-for-profit charitable organization, founded and run by local volunteer mothers. MN also provides a great opportunity for personal development and leadership through our volunteer positions.

Our ambition is to create happy and healthy families that are well connected in our community.

MOTHERS NETWORK HISTORY

"MOTHERS NETWORK IS A SUCCESS STORY INSPIRED FROM TRAGEDY".

Local mother of 3, Andrea was inspired after a tragic event in 2003 to begin a “Mothers Network” where women could come together and benefit from sharing parenting experiences.

The group has evolved and grown and now offers many opportunities for women to “network” each week. * See the box to the left for regular weekly sessions. **
We also publish the Mothers Network newsletter monthly, which reaches around 600 families each month. In this publication we have regular columns from local health professionals and we promote local events and services. We maintain close relationships with local council, maternal health nurses and several other support services.
Race, religion and social background are no barrier – Melton East is a very multicultural area. Many women have forged lasting friendships which have extended to benefit their partners and children as well.
Sadly, Andrea has since moved to country Victoria. The hard work she (and the committee) put into establishing Mothers Network has ensured that we continue to grow and thrive in her absence.
In 2005, a partnership was formed with Try Youth and Family Services, who successfully applied for funding on our behalf. This has enabled us to expand our service from Caroline Springs to three other locations in Melton East.
Our ongoing goal is to continue to support women – particularly on their journey into motherhood, thereby reducing the incidences of depression and isolation.
Cheers
